VII Service-Learning Researchers’ Symposium – 2025

The VII Service-Learning Researchers’ Symposium will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday, 20th August 2025, organized by CLAYSS, with the support of the Ibero-American Service-Learning Network.

The event, which will take place in the framework of the 22nd International Service-Learning Week, is an opportunity to meet and exchange between research groups that can complement each other, collaborate on research projects and share their experiences.

Those approved papers  will be presented orally at round tables in poster format. Some will be selected for short lectures (only onsite mode). In addition, all of them will be published in the proceedings (ISBN publication), while some will also be published in the RIDAS journal. Finally, some authors will be invited to present their work at the 28th International Solidarity Service-Learning Conference on 21st and 22nd August. 

The central themes at the conference are the following:

1 – DISCUSSIONS AND THEORETICAL CONTRIBUTIONS 

1.1 Contributions to the definition of “service-learning” and “solidarity service-learning”.

1.2 Solidarity, fraternity, spirituality and service-learning. 

2 – INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAMMES BASED ON SERVICE-LEARNING 

2.1 Monitoring and evaluation of institutional programmes.

2.2 Design, follow-up and outreach of institutional policies for service-learning implementation and promotion.

3 – CASE STUDIES AND SYSTEMATIZATION OF SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMMES AND PRACTICES

The guidelines for paper submission, which can be in Spanish and English, will be available on this website from 10th March. The submission  deadline is on 4th April 2025.

About JIAS

The Service-Learning Researchers’ Symposium have been organized by CLAYSS since 2004, having held six meetings (2004, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2023) that are integrated into the agenda of the International Week of Service-Learning.

Its objective is focused on contributing to its theoretical foundation, generating meeting and exchange instances between researchers and giving visibility to the experiences that are carried out in the different educational fields.

The lines of work are focused on: Discussions and theoretical contributions to the definition of “solidarity service-learning” and “service-learning”, solidarity, fraternity, spirituality and service-learning; monitoring and evaluation of institutional programmes and service-learning practices, design, follow-up and scope of institutional policies for the establishment and promotion of service-learning and case studies and systematization of service-learning programmes and practices.
