RIDAS Journal. Special Issue-December 2024: Monogr\u00e1fico sobre redes de aprendizaje-servicio [Special publication on service-learning networks] <\/strong><\/p>\n

This latest issue of RIDAS, the biannual academic journal, features a special publication on the creation, growth and sustainability of solidarity service-learning (SSL) networks worldwide. REDIBAS (Spanish acronym for the Ibero-American Service-Learning Network) promoted the creation of the publication and this particular issue. The publication demonstrates the global reach through the presentation of diverse and interesting papers featuring SSL projects carried out in different regions of the world. \u00a0Furthermore, the eight SSL networks participating in this work are also from different regions, countries and continents. Each included formal and non-formal education institutions at all levels, with some also including higher education institutions. Precisely, this diversity highlights the significant work being done and the potential for collaboration, discussion and dissemination of solidarity service-learning between some of the networks, thanks to the meetings carried out.<\/p>\n

Luz Avruj (CLAYSS) and Andr\u00e9s Peregalli (Uniservitate\/UCA) remark in their editorial that “service-learning, a field of growing interest at regional and global level, is networked. Coordination and association are characteristic of this pedagogy since the development of projects is based on, and generates the development of, links and coordination of different scopes for the benefit of and with the community.” Furthermore, they agree that “knowledge acquisition about networks, as a way of being in the SSL world while building it, evidences ideas, skills and conditions that interconnect participants, institutions and policies to build a more just and fraternal world.” Finally, their powerful statement gives food for thought and opens the door to what comes next: “Looking at the world and intervening in it through the lens of ties, participation and interaction, triggers a particular way of being and being in the world that is at the root of social change. Networking deepens the democratic fabric.”<\/p>\n

RIDAS is a scientific journal of the Education Department of the Universidad de Barcelona, co-published with CLAYSS, the Latin American Center for Service-Learning.<\/p>\n
