Award-Winning Experiences in the 11th Edition of the Solidarity Education Contest in Uruguay

CLAYSS Uruguay held the Solidarity Education Contest jointly with ANEP (the National Administration of Public Education in Uruguay), MEC (the Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Culture in Uruguay), OIE (the Organization of Ibero-American States) and “El Chajá” Rural Training and Culture Center.

As usual, students, educators and renowned institutions joined the award ceremony, which took place during the Service-Learning Conference on 24th November.

In its eleventh edition, the competition awarded nine solidarity educational experiences, recognized for excellence in their service-learning (SL) practices.

The award-winning initiatives and projects are as follows:

  • “Cosechando libertad, trabajando la vida” – Instituto Nacional de Inclusión Adolescente de Canelones. [“Harvesting freedom, working life” – National Institute of Adolescent Inclusion in Canelones].
  • “Plazas que unen” – Centro Educativo Providencia del Cerro. [“Joining Parks” – Providencia Educational Centre in Montevideo].
  • “Líderes infantiles verdes” – Club de niños La Tablada de Salto. [“Little Green Leaders” – NGO Club de Niños La Tablada in Salto].
  • “Tendiendo redes en la comunidad” – Instituto de Formación Docente de San José. [“Networking in the community” – Teacher-Training Institute in San José de Mayo].
  • “Campamento lechero” – Universidad Tecnológica del Uruguay de Durazno. [“Dairy Camp” – Technological University of Uruguay in Durazno].
  • “AYSS para mejorar el medio ambiente y la convivencia en U13, con énfasis en mujeres” – INR Unidad 13 – Las Rosas. [“Service-learning to improve the environment and coexistence in U13, with emphasis on women” – National Institute for Rehabilitation Unit No. 13 Las Rosas].
  • “Cazadores de libros” – Liceo N° 2 de Tala (Canelones). [“Book hunters” – Lyceum No. 2 in Tala city, Canelones].
  • “Huerta agroecológica liceal” – Liceo de Montes (Canelones). [“Agro-ecological school vegetable garden” – Montes Secondary School in Canelones].
  • “Explorando aromas y sabores” – Jardín N° 97 de San José. [“Exploring aromas and flavours” – Kindergarten No. 97 in San José].
