Solidarity Service Learning to Promote Democracy

CLAYSS participated in a meeting of European teachers organized by SLEAD – Service-Learning for Democracy in Europe (https://slead-europe.eu/) in Athens, Greece.

Luz Avruj, our Institutional Relations and Networks Coordinator, participated in this initiative known as “Summer School”, bringing together over 40 teachers and some experts from Germany, Romania, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, the United States, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Greece. This time, the meeting aimed to promote the development of high-impact transnational service-learning projects.

In this framework, a meeting of the Service-Learning in European Schools and Organizations Network, SLESON, was also held. CLAYSS is a founder of this institution in 2022.

Avruj delivered a talk and a workshop during the Summer School. “In addition to noting the growing interest in solidarity service learning in Europe, being here allows us to meet friends who, like us, help it grow at different educational levels and languages in different countries and continue weaving networks around the world,” she said.
