V Universitate Global Symposium in Rome Concluded with Private Audience with Pope Francis

Over 200 representatives from 56 Catholic institutions worldwide participated in the symposium organized by CLAYSS and LUMSA University in Rome, Italy.

With the theme “Transforming Higher Education from Within,” the V Universitate Global Symposium brought together university leaders, professors, researchers and students representing 35 countries of the Universitate solidarity service-learning programme for Catholic higher education institutions (https://www.uniservitate.org/).

The event began on Wednesday, 6th November, with a meeting at the Australian Catholic University (ACU), where students and teachers who won the Uniservitate Award 2024 (https://www.uniservitate.org/es/2024-premio/) exchanged experiences and worked in groups throughout the day; meanwhile, researchers, authorities and team members carried out an agenda that included the final presentations among all participants.

On Thursday, 7th and Friday, 8th November, the atmosphere of fraternity and the academic standards of the symposium held at LUMSA University (https://lumsa.it/it/) were evident in each presentation. Rome was the venue for this large gathering, which closed the week with a private audience with Pope Francis and participation in the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square.

Over 200 people from different regions worldwide participated in each activity with commitment and enthusiasm. During the audience at the Vatican, everyone gratefully and attentively listened to the Pope’s words, who praised the work of CLAYSS and Uniservitate and called on those present to continue transforming the world through education, working through solidarity service-learning.
